Key Technologies for 1.6Tb/s Coherent Optical Transmission Systems to Data Center Interconnection

Ultra-high-speed optical transmission technologies are developing extremely rapidly under the driven of Data Center Interconnection. 800Gb/s is undergoing laboratory and field network evaluation and standard development. Recently, the industry has begun to discuss 1.6Tb/s coherent technologies and optical modules. This paper focuses on potential solutions and technical routes for 1.6Tb/s coherent optical transmission. The next generation optical transmission system is expected to be mainly 256GBaud, supporting 1.6Tb/s metropolitan area and 800Gb/s long-distance transmission.
