A Study of Algorithms for Detecting the Direction of Arrival (DOA) of RF Signals

This work presents the study, implementation, and performance analysis of various strategies for estimating the angles of arrival (AoA) of RF signals in a Uniform Linear Array (ULA), with the objective of identifying the methods with the greatest potential for implementation in dedicated hardware. The evaluated methods are based on statistical techniques derived from ESPRIT (Estimation of Signal Parameters via Rotational Invariance Techniques) and MUSIC (Multiple Signal Classification). The results indicate that, although all methods involve high computational complexity, some exhibit promising potential for deployment in resource-constrained hardware as well as for scaling to larger sensor arrays.
