Research on Pitch Control for Floating Wind Turbines

This paper focuses on pitch control technologies to enhance wind turbine performance, addressing issues such as slow response and large overshoot in traditional PI control by proposing a variable-gain PI (GSPI) control strategy. This strategy dynamically adjusts controller gains based on wind turbine operating conditions, thereby improving the response speed and adjustment accuracy of unified pitch control. To further reduce unbalanced blade root loads and suppress vibrations, an individual pitch control (IPC) method based on blade root bending moment feedback is introduced to enable independent adjustments for each blade. Simulations are conducted using the IEA 15 MW semi-submersible wind turbine on the OpenFAST platform. The results show that the designed GSPI significantly enhances wind turbine stability, and when combined with IPC, effectively reduces blade root bending moments, extends equipment life, and suppresses vibrations in critical parts of the turbine, providing new theoretical support for the development of wind power technology.
