Sensor Plug-and-Play Middleware with Integrated Communication Functions for Intelligent Controllers in Autonomous Unmanned Systems

Currently, cross-domain heterogeneous unmanned systems face challenges such as significant structural differences, varying sensor data interfaces, and stringent real-time data exchange requirements. Traditional hardware and software integration methods are inadequate to meet the seamless integration needs of unmanned system intelligent controllers. Therefore, this paper proposes a sensor plug-and-play middleware software integrated with communication functionality. This middleware abstracts the underlying hardware differences among similar sensors and provides a universal, hardware-independent interface for managing and controlling sensors, while enabling real-time data transmission. Finally, plug-and-play communication tests for sensors and algorithm tests for an unmanned vehicle were conducted on Huawei's Ascend 310B controller. Experimental results demonstrate that the designed middleware satisfies the sensor data communication requirements of unmanned systems.
