Simulation and Analysis of Flow Field in Coke Dry Quenching Furnace: A BPNN Method Based on DEM-CFD

As a typical equipment of coke dry quenching technology, coke dry quenching furnace is widely used in domestic iron and steel industry because of its characteristics of environmental protection and energy saving. The falling of coke in the furnace can lead to complex voidage distribution in the bed layer, and the voidage distribution is a key factor affecting the cooling gas flow and heat exchange between coke and gas in the furnace. Therefore, considering spatial dynamics of voidage, this paper proposes a three-dimensional voidage simulation model based on Discrete Element Method-Computational Fluid Dynamics (DEM-CFD) and conducts the flow field simulation of coke dry quenching furnace. First, the three-dimensional distribution of coke bed voidage in the cooling shaft is established by simulating the discharge of coke dry quenching furnace using Altair EDEM. Subsequently, based on the Back Propagation Neural Network (BPNN), a three-dimensional simulation model of voidage is developed. Finally the temperature and pressure field distribution in the coke dry quenching furnace are derived through Ansys Fluent numerical calculation combined with the proposed voidage simulation model, which provide theoretical guidance for the design and operation of coke dry quenching furnace.
