Research on the Control Algorithms for an Attitude Control System with 4-Axis Reaction Wheels of Pyramid Configuration

To address the research needs for the attitude control of cubic satellites and to overcome the limitations of traditional three-axis orthogonal installation systems, a pyramid-shaped micro-nano four-axis flywheel attitude adjustment mechanism is proposed. This scheme not only provides redundancy but also effectively reduces power consumption. Based on the principle of conservation of angular momentum, a dynamic model of the pyramid-shaped flywheel attitude adjustment system is established, and the optimal installation angle of the flywheel is derived. Three control algorithms are designed: PID control, LQR control, and sliding mode control. Through software simulation, the advantages and disadvantages of the three control algorithms in system performance are compared. The experimental platform uses 3D printing technology and embedded development to verify the effectiveness and robustness of the control algorithms. The results show that the proposed pyramid-shaped flywheel attitude adjustment system can effectively achieve satellite attitude adjustment. This research provides a new solution for the attitude control of cubic satellites.
