Synthesis of Prephased Programmable 1-bit Array Based on AEP-GA Hybrid Method

In this paper, a hybrid method for synthesis of prephased programmable 1-bit array is proposed. Genetic algorithm(GA) is used in the hybrid method to optimize the prephase loading on the 1-bit array, thus eliminate the mirror lobe effects of 1-bit phase quantization and achieve low sidelobe levels(SLL). In addition, active element pattern(AEP) method is applied in the hybrid method to achieve high accuracy of radiation field calculation and significantly enhance the optimization efficiency. Simulations of a programmable 1-bit linear array with 1×16 unit cell verify that the AEP-GA hybrid method realizes SLL suppression to -9dB for multiple beam directions from -30° to 30° with 10°step and the simulated results are in high agreement with calculated results.
