A Spurious Target Elimination Strategy for Multitarget Detection in Distributed Radar Systems

Distributed radar systems enhance target detection and tracking significantly, but data mismatch and spurious target challenges arise due to the complex spatial projection of range cells. To address the issue caused by overlapping range cells, a grid partitioning method is used to perform spatial matching of data in the entire surveillance area. In this paper, a spurious target elimination strategy is proposed, where the geometric mean is used for multichannel data fusion to achieve precise target location. Furthermore, median filtering is applied to the surveillance area to eliminate residual spurious targets. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed strategy effectively determines the target position and eliminates the spurious units.
