Modeling and Calculation of Parameters of the Magnetic Field of the Magnetic System of a E-shaped AC Electromagnet of a Modular Contactor

The article presents the results of modeling and calculation of magnetic field parameters for the magnetic system of a E-shaped AC electromagnet of a modular contactor. A brief overview of the mathematical model for solving the field calculation problem using the finite element method is provided. Sketches of the armature, magnetic core, and coil frame of the control winding of the E-shaped AC electromagnet of the modular contactor are presented. The construction of the topographic and zonal pictures of the electromagnetic field was carried out in the framework of the finite element analysis program FEMM 4.2. Using the built-in tools of the software framework's postprocessor, integration was performed over the Maxwell stress tensor, and electromagnetic forces were calculated in various parts of the magnetic core as the width of the working gap changed. The traction characteristic of the investigated electromagnet for a single point in time is constructed. The optimal number of finite element nodes in the scheme for effective modeling is determined. In the COMSOL Multiphysics framework, a zonal picture of the magnetic induction distribution over the cross-section of the E-shaped electromagnet, time dependencies for fluxes in shielded and unshielded parts of the magnetic core, as well as electromagnetic forces, are constructed. The correct functioning of the investigated electromagnetic device is confirmed through the condition of the absence of armature vibration. Conclusions are drawn about the application of finite element analysis programs in the design of AC electromagnets.
