Fuzzy Logic-Based Gearbox Control for Highly Automated Vehicles Considering Environmental Factors

The article presents the development of an automatic transmission control system for highly automated vehicles based on fuzzy logic methods that take into account environmental factors. The proposed approach integrates data on air resistance, road surface conditions, road gradient, and route information to enable adaptive gear-shifting decisions. The use of fuzzy logic makes it possible to account for the uncertainty and variability of real-world operating conditions, thereby improving comfort, safety, and fuel efficiency, while also reducing transmission wear. The paper outlines the system architecture, provides examples of control rules, and analyzes the effectiveness of the proposed method. The results demonstrate the potential of intelligent fuzzy controllers to optimize the performance of automatic transmissions in modern vehicles.
