Analysis of RMII Interface Design through Simulations and Measurements

This paper presents the implementation and verification of an RMII interface as part of a multi-function device designed for the automotive industry. It describes the principal – principal scheme, the PCB design, the impedance calculations, the results of signal integrity simulations with a HyperLynx and the results of the measurements of the finished design. All measured parameters are within the tolerance set by the manufacturer, indicating that the RMII interface so designed and implemented should have no functional problems.
