Enhancing Image Security with Hybrid Chaos-Kyber Encryption: A Post-Quantum Approach

Quantum computing's advent presents a formidable danger to traditional communication systems, especially in domains like image transmission, where security and efficiency are paramount. This paper presents a novel hybrid encryption framework that integrates chaos-based cryptography with Kyber, a post-quantum lattice-based key encapsulation mechanism standardized by NIST. The proposed Hybrid Chaos-Kyber Encryption (HCKE) system derives chaotic parameters from Kyberestablished shared secrets, supported by the Open Quantum Safe GitHub repository, enabling efficient and quantum-resistant image encryption. By leveraging the logistic map's pseudorandomness and Kyber's post-quantum security, the method achieves high entropy, robust key sensitivity, and resistance to attacks by classical and quantum computers. The system's performance metrics confirm its effectiveness and stability across various image categories while maintaining average encryption and decryption durations of less than 1 second. The hybrid approach delivers a practical, scalable solution for secure image transmission during the post-quantum era, which applies to sensitive applications, including telemedicine and critical infrastructure.
