Accurate Zeroing of Combat Assault Rifle Using Bullet Grouping Analysis and Mean Point Impact Calculation

For military operations it is crucial to zeroing the weapon accurately. This ensures the firearm's sight alignment within the bullet point impact and is vital for combat training. Currently, manual process is used for zeroing the combat assault rifles. This is considered as time consuming, prone to errors and inefficient for combat training. Addressing the need of an automated weapon zeroing which mitigates the manual process limitations we propose a model which will enhance the efficiency of the zeroing process. An automated image processing based approach is proposed considering bullet hit impacts for analyzing groups and calculating the Mean Point of Impact (MPI) for effective weapon sight adjustments. The proposed approach effectively solves the issues associated with manual approaches as this approach is reliable, efficient and consistent for weapon zeroing and can be easily incorporated in the military training process for better performance when firing takes place from the firearms.
