Comparative Analysis of Jakes and Smith Models for Rayleigh Fading in OFDM Based Wireless Communication Systems Using Different Modulation Schemes

In wireless communication networks, multipath fading has a major impact on system performance. The creation of correlated Rayleigh random variates, which are frequently used to simulate real-world channel conditions, is compared in this paper between the Jakes approach and the modified Smith algorithm. The former requires less memory and computing complexity than the latter. The Drones (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles - UAVs) navigate high-mobility environments, their wireless channels experience Rayleigh fading, which models multipath signal propagation caused by reflections, diffractions, and scattering from obstacles such as buildings, terrain, and atmospheric variations. The study also examines the statistical characteristics of fading variables and how they affect the Bit Error Rate (BER) performance of wireless communication systems based on Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) for 16-Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (16-QAM), Binary Phase Shift Keying (BPSK), and Quadrature Phase Shift Keying (QPSK) modulation schemes. The simulation findings show how different Rayleigh fading models affect BER performance in wireless communication systems based on OFDM and how efficiency and computational complexity are traded off.
