Design, Simulation & Development of Multiband RF Up-Down Converter with IBW of 2GHz

This paper gives a novel architecture for design, simulation and development of RF Up converter (from L band to X or Ku band) and RF Down converter (from X or Ku band to L band). The two stage superheterodyne architecture consists of Fixed LO and variable LO. The Instantaneous bandwidth (IBW) of 2GHz is required for performance evaluation of Datalink system and SAR Radar system. The design and simulation has been carried out in Visual System Simulator (VSS) in Applied Wave Research Design Environment (AWR DE) to finalise COTS RF components. The developmental objective of this is to do Hardware In Loop (HIL) channel emulation for performance Evaluation of Airborne system in a Rig for ISR Integration Testing (RIT). The Developed RF Up and down converter is characterised in terms Insertion Loss (IL), Noise figure (NF) and spectrum analysis.
