Enhancing Accessibility Through AI: Design and Functionality of a Windows Voice Assistant

Voice-based virtual assistants have come into view as essential tools for enhancing human-computer interaction and accessibility. This paper presents "Boom," a Windows-based voice-controlled virtual assistant designed to perform tasks such as playing music, retrieving weather updates, setting alarms, and summarizing news. Developed using Python libraries, including speech recognition, pyttsx3, and Beautiful Soup, "Boom" efficiently processes natural language commands, enabling seamless user interaction. The modular, lightweight, and scalable architecture of the assistant ensures adaptability for diverse user groups, particularly individuals with visual impairments. By eliminating the need for manual or visual input, "Boom" fosters independence and inclusivity, offering a hands-free interface to simplify daily activities. The development process involved requirement gathering, data analysis, system design, and deployment. Results demonstrate the assistant's effectiveness in executing voice commands with high accuracy and responsiveness. Future enhancements will support advanced Natural Language Processing (NLP) to improve command understanding and context sensitivity, while integration with braille devices and real-time object recognition will further expand accessibility. "Boom" isn't just a virtual assistant—it’s like having a helpful, friendly companion who makes technology easier for everyone. Whether it's opening apps, playing music, setting reminders, or answering questions, Boom empowers users to do more with less effort. It’s thoughtfully designed to promote independence, break tech barriers, and bring smart, intuitive help to everyday life for all users.
