Automation of Synchronous-Operations of Beacons for Onboard Tracking System of High Throughput Satellites

Efficient management of RF beacon carriers is pivotal for the operational success of the High Throughput Satellite's (HTS) onboard tracking system. This paper discusses the automation of synchronous RF beacon carrier management specifically designed for HTS type of spacecraft, with a focus on optimizing tracking accuracy, reducing interference, and enhancing overall satellite communication efficiency. The proposed system leverages advanced algorithms for dynamically bringing up and down beacon carrier based on onboard antenna selection, real-time synchronization with Earth-Based tracking stations, and adaptive beacon selection to ensure seamless tracking and data flow. Furthermore, link failures and server failure mitigation mechanisms are incorporated to operate RF beacon in order to avoid issues related to onboard antenna misalignment and user signal degradation. The proposed approach enhances operational efficiency, scalability, cost-effectiveness, and long-term mission success of HTS. This paper outlines the key components of the system, highlights the benefits of automation in satellite operations, and discusses the potential for future advancements in the automation of satellite beacon management.
