Gestoconnect: A Deep Ensemble-Based Hand Gesture Recognition System for the Deaf and Speech-Impaired

The gesture recognition system provides society with an advanced human machine interface where the mean of communication is the sensation not the touch. GestoConnect is an advanced interactive platform which allows real time control of devices with the use of hands. The study proposes a hybrid system of pyramidal-based CNN feature extraction along with using a Random Forest (RF) on gesture classification with an accuracy of 92.72 percent, precision of 93.33 percent, and a recall of 92.72 percent. GestoConnect offers the developers with foundation tools such as the gesture-biblio, cross-platform support, and convenient solutions in creating and designing it. It can be applied to smart homes, virtual reality, as well as assistive technologies, but the main emphasis here is on data security and the right to privacy. GestoConnect provides an entry point to gestural interface.
