Secure AI Coordination in Distributed Systems: Challenges and Opportunities

As AI systems are being distributed across different nodes and networks, there are new security risks that are not covered by the traditional measures. We explore how the modern decentralized AI systems face specific threats and risks. We suggest an elaborate framework for the secure coordination of AI models in distributed settings that would maintain the benefits of decentralization without compromising security. Our approach proposes the use of federated learning in conjunction with zero-knowledge proof based consensus mechanisms inspired by blockchain to secure and privately train models across untrusted nodes. The effectiveness of the proposed framework is validated through simulations against different attack scenarios while incurring reasonable performance loss and maintaining good scalability.
