Determinants of Mobile Investment App Adoption Among Indonesian Investors

The increasing integration of mobile platforms in the financial technology (Fintech) sector has led to the rapid development of investment applications that enable secure, real-time portfolio management. This study investigates the adoption of mobile investment applications in Indonesia by employing a system-oriented analytical approach grounded in the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology 2 (UTAUT2) and implemented through Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The research aims to model and quantify key behavioral and technical determinants such as performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, facilitating conditions, hedonic motivation, and trust that influence user acceptance of mobile investment platforms. A structured survey was administered to 404 respondents, and the resulting data were evaluated to validate a user adoption model. Findings indicate that performance expectancy, trust, and facilitating conditions significantly impact adoption intention, highlighting the importance of designing robust, reliable, and infrastructure-friendly applications. Notably, effort expectancy showed minimal influence, suggesting that users prioritize utility and trust over ease of use. The developed model contributes to the design and development of user-centered fintech solutions by providing a predictive framework that can be applied to system usability testing, interface optimization, and adoption forecasting. These insights can support developers and system architects in creating more effective mobile investment platforms while informing policy strategies to enhance financial inclusion in emerging digital economies.
