Research on Automotive Lamp Housing Gluing System Based on Industrial Robot

In the field of modern automotive manufacturing, the uniformity, positional accuracy, and shape stability of the sealant layer for automotive lamp housings are crucial to the overall vehicle quality. This study presents an automated glue dispensing system for automotive lamp housings based on a six-axis industrial robot. Taking the ABB IRB1410 robot as the core, the system integrates an IRC5 controller and a DSQC652 standard I/O board to construct a flexible manufacturing platform that combines high-precision motion control with intelligent trajectory planning. The robot's spatial movements and trajectory interpolation are achieved through commands such as MoveJ, MoveC, and MoveL. The digital signal CH1 of the DSQC652 board controls the opening and closing of the glue gun, ensuring that the gun remains perpendicular to the gluing surface of the lamp housing throughout the dispensing process. For the irregular spatial arcs and linear combined trajectories of the lamp housing, a segmented trajectory planning strategy is adopted, with dense taught target points used to enhance dispensing accuracy. Experimental results show that the double-sided glue dispensing cycle of the system stabilizes at 45 seconds, featuring precise dispensing trajectories without robot vibration or trajectory discontinuities. These findings fully validate the stability and feasibility of the automated dispensing system for complex contours of automotive lamp housings, providing a solution for automated precision glue application in automotive components.
