3D digital Bone Bank: development and validation of an automated allograft selection system using 3D imaging in orthopaedic oncology

The primary objective of this project is to develop, evaluate and validate a solution to improve allograft reconstruction in orthopaedic oncology. The solution is based on the creation of a digitized bone bank integrating medical image processing, 3D technology and artificial intelligence (AI). The aim of creating a digitized bone bank is to facilitate the selection of optimal allografts for patients based on their anatomical morphology, demographics and bone density. The process developed in this project showed better performance in the allograft selection, compared to the traditional workflow, based on different mathematical metrics.
