Polarimetry technique in a miniature plasma focus machine

Measuring the magnetic field in a plasma focus device is essential for comprehending plasma dynamics and enhancing performance. This work presents a method for determining the magnetic field in a miniature plasma focus device utilizing two diagnostic procedures. The initial phenomenon is the Faraday rotation effect, quantified using a polarimeter, whereas the subsequent instrument is the Nomarski interferometer, employed to determine the plasma electron density distribution. The Faraday rotation angle establishes a direct correlation between the magnetic field and the change in polarization of a probe laser beam traversing the plasma. This study illustrates the magnetic field distribution within the miniature plasma focus machine, offering insights into the machine’s magnetic field dynamics.
