Comparison between SISO and MIMO configurations in ATSC 3.0 technology

TV 3.0 represents the next evolution of television broadcasting, integrating high-quality audiovisual content and spectral efficiency. This paper analyzes the Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) and Single-Input Single-Output (SISO) configurations in the ATSC 3.0 standard, recommended for Brazil by the SBTVD Forum. Laboratory experiments assessed the Carrier-to-Noise Ratio (C/N), multipath profiles, and minimum reception levels. The results show that MIMO offers higher transmission capacity and robustness against interference, outperforming SISO, which exhibited higher susceptibility under equivalent bitrate comparisons and lower performance. This study reinforces the technical viability of MIMO to meet the demands of TV 3.0 in Brazil.
