The Influence of Silica on the Dynamic Properties of Carbon Black-Filled Rubber

Rubbers exhibit special dynamic loading properties due to their time, amplitude and temperature dependent behavior. Furthermore, the mechanical properties of rubbers can be modified by incorporating different filler components, which has implications for the design and development of products subjected to dynamic loading. This study investigated the complex modulus of rubber composites containing a fixed amount of carbon black while varying the commercial silica content to 20/0 phr, 20/15 phr and 20/30 phr, and investigated the effect of different silica concentrations using a dynamic mechanical property analysis method, and analyzed the influence of temperature on the mechanical behavior. This study was conducted at a macroscopic level, assuming that the rubber composites are homogeneous and uniform materials. The results show that the complex modulus increases with silica content, and the storage modulus decreases with temperature, and the tangent has different temperature responses.
