Mitigation of Localizer Multipath Interference Using Metamaterials on Building Facades

Multipath interference caused by the facades of large buildings is a common and severe issue in localizer (LOC) systems, affecting signal transmission and reception. This paper proposes a method to mitigate multipath interference by using metamaterials on the facades of large buildings. Simulation analyses validates the effectiveness of this approach. The results indicate that metamaterials significantly suppress multipath interference, thereby enhancing the stability and accuracy of LOC signals. This provides a new perspective for future airport planning.
