An AC Solid-State Circuit Breaker Topology Applied to De-icing Devices for Bundled Conductors

This paper presents an AC solid-state circuit breaker (SSCB) topology applicable to online non-outage de-icing devices. The SSCB employs a conventional common-emitter connection configuration to form the basic topology, utilizes RCD snubber circuits to achieve protection and voltage sharing functions. Its current transfer capability for bundle conductors in high-voltage transmission lines has been validated through power grid simulation. This circuit breaker can replace conventional breakers in de-icing devices, offering advantages including high stability and reliability under extreme weather conditions, enhanced scalability, and improved de-icing device intelligence. It provides a new design approach for de-icing devices based on the cycled current ice melting method of bundle conductors and offers new insights for transmission line protection work.
