Improved Response and Dynamic Modeling of a Five Phase Direct Torque Control for Induction Motor Drive

Induction motor drives (IMDs) are commonly utilized for various applications in industries, electric vehicles and home applications. Various IMDs are available in market with different control approaches. Generally, five phase IMDs are developing for many applications due to their high capability of torque and flux regions. An inverter must be used to design an efficient IMD. Hence, five phase inverter which triggered by five phase space vector pulse width modulation technique (SVPWMT) is used in this paper. Complete mathematical design of a five phase IMD is also providing in this paper for a better understand. An efficient direct torque control is applied to improve the response of a five phase IMD. The comparable analysis between a three phase and five phase IMDs by using direct torque control is presented. Ripples in torque and flux are observed in proposed method as compared with existing method. The suggested framework is subsequently replicated through MATLAB/Simulink.
