SenForet: A Real-Time Alert Platform to Monitor Illegal Logging in Senegal's Forests

Like many countries around the world, Senegal is heavily dependent on its forests. They are essential for supplying energy through firewood, as well as wood for carpentry, sculpture and other uses. However, Senegal's forests are under seri- ous threat from large-scale illegal logging, which is threatening their survival. Unfortunately, the Water and Forestry Service, one of whose roles is to monitor and control logging in the forest, seems powerless to deal with this scourge. With this in mind, we provide a forest monitoring platform that will geolocate illegal logging and alert water and forestry officials in real time.
