Exploring the Scope of IOT in Various Mechanized Systems Used for Clay (Slip) Preparation in the Pottery Sector

The pottery industry, though deeply rooted in manual craftsmanship, is undergoing a gradual but transformative shift through mechanization and the adoption of smart digital technologies. Now a days, the Machines/ Technology/Auto systems transformed the process of clay preparation in pottery sector. They improve the efficiency, productivity, accuracy in pottery manufacturing process. The Internet of Things (IoT) stands out as a game-changing innovation, offering real-time data acquisition, process automation & optimization, energy optimization, quality control and enhanced quality assurance, process efficiency and sustainability. This paper analysed the acceptance and effect of technology and evaluate the incorporation of technology with traditional methods of clay preparation and investigates the potential and practical scope of IoT integration into mechanized systems used for clay (Slip) preparation-a critical and foundational process in pottery production. With reference to some distinguished works in pottery studies, this paper assesses, the key stages of slip preparation, the key machineries used in industry, evaluates their advantages, applications, the roles IoT can play and addresses the key issues faced by rural artisans. The paper also outlines the benefits, challenges, and future outlook of IoT deployment in this niche but culturally significant industry and evaluates how IoT can address existing inefficiencies and pave the way for sustainable modernization in the pottery sector. Additionally, it emphasis on further research to incorporate these systems with traditional practises of pottery. These systems improve the consistency, efficiency and scalability by restructuring the traditional methods.
