Transforming Chili Agriculture with Interactive IoT Dashboards Using a Design Thinking Approach

Chili farming faces significant challenges such as price volatility and environmental vulnerabilities that impact crop yield and farmer income. This study presents the design and development of a web-based interactive dashboard aimed at supporting smart farming practices for chili cultivation. The system integrates real-time IoT sensor data such as soil moisture, temperature, and nutrient levels with machine learning-based image classification for plant health monitoring. Utilizing a Design Thinking methodology, the research follows iterative phases including empathize, define, ideate, prototype, and usability testing involving actual users. Usability evaluation was conducted through remote testing tools with 30 participants, yielding a high task success rate of 98.7% and an excellent System Usability Scale (SUS) score of 85.08. These results demonstrate the dashboard's effectiveness in improving farmer decision-making, user engagement, and overall system usability. The solution provides an accessible, efficient, and sustainable platform to enhance agricultural management and productivity.
