MoBorg: Mobility as Cyborg Prosthesis for "Being a Ball"

We propose an aquatic mobility aid that functions as a prosthetic extension of the mind and body. It provides water access for spinal rehabilitation incorporating a fun playful educational "Vironment" through creation of a smart walk-on-waterball together with a head-mounted and/or ball-mounted display. The system we name "MoBorg" (mobility cyborg) enables gameplay we call "Being a Ball". The gameplay uses the inherently unstable properties of a walk-on-waterball as a balance exercise to engage core muscles for physical fitness + rehab, together with an educational component: games to teach water conservation, garbage cleanup, etc., as well as Quaturnion™ , a virtual 4-dimensional space as a form of imaginal-socio-cyber-physical-fitness eXtended Reality (XR). Moborg is also the world’s first quaternion oscilloscope. It allows us to see and study double-covering (two revolutions per cisoidal quaternion cycle). We also use Moborg to gamify the cleanup of Peter Street Basin in downtown Toronto, as a research project in Vironmentalism™.
