Enhancing CubeSat Performance with Affordable and Reliable Electrical Power Systems

This research presents the development of a highly efficient and cost-effective Electrical Power System (EPS) for a CubeSat designed to enhance communication with fishermen. Recognizing the need for reliable and affordable connectivity in remote maritime environments, this research paper focuses on creating a practical and accessible solution for supporting fishermen's operations. The EPS architecture, featuring a simple and robust design, prioritizes high efficiency and maximizes power utilization data for reliable communication. This system incorporates optimized solar panels to capture sunlight, even in challenging maritime conditions, and a battery management system to ensure consistent power delivery during periods of limited sunlight. Power management circuits regulate voltage and current values, ensuring the efficient power distribution to the whole communication system. The paper analyses the specific power requirements for LoRa communication, a technology well-suited for long-range and low-power data transmission in remote areas. The EPS design takes into account cost considerations, making it a practical and accessible solution for widespread adoption. Detailed analysis of the system's efficiency and reliability, including simulations of various environmental conditions, demonstrates its suitability for supporting fishermen communication. This research contributes to the growing field of Cube Sat applications for maritime operations, highlighting the potential of low-cost satellite technology for improving safety and enhancing communication capabilities for fishermen around the globe.
