Promoting Financial Literacy Among Young Adults: A Narrative-Driven Serious Game Approach

Low financial literacy among young adults contributes to poor financial decisions, rising debt, and long-term insecurity. This study explores serious games driven by narrative as a tool to improve financial learning and engagement. A mixed-methods approach, incorporating Fuzzy Delphi, QFD, and AHP, guided designing and evaluating a game prototype tested by 30 young adults and 15 experts. The results indicate that immersive narratives enhance financial awareness, goal setting, and decision making, although emotional tension and fatigue can sometimes hinder comprehension. Correlation analysis revealed that flow supports perspective taking, while negative affect impairs understanding. These findings underscore the importance of balancing emotional intensity and cognitive challenge in serious game design. The study provides a foundation for developing narrative-driven financial literacy interventions that optimize engagement and learning outcomes.
