Sensorless Vector Control of Dual Three-Phase PMSG Using Active Flux Observer and Dual-Feedforward Decoupling for Enhanced Dynamic Response and Robustness

With the increasing electrification of modern aircraft, high-voltage DC gensets must provide stable voltages under large and rapid changes in loads, while operating reliably in extreme environments. In this paper, a sensorless vector control strategy is proposed for a dual three-phase permanent magnet synchronous generator (DTP-PMSG) that combines a voltage-current hybrid active flux observer with a current feedforward decoupling architecture. A QPLL-integrated active flux observer is employed to obtain highly accurate angle and speed estimates over the entire speed range, and a current feedforward loop is employed to counteract the effects of current coupling, as well as a load current feedforward loop to compensate for transient load power disturbances. Joint simulations under conventional and extreme disturbance conditions confirm the effectiveness of the strategy in significantly enhancing dynamic response, disturbance rejection and robustness, providing a practical sensorless solution for high-reliability aerospace PMSG applications.
