Dynamic Task Prioritization and Fair Resource Allocation in Vehicular Edge Computing

The Internet of Vehicles (IoV) is a transformative paradigm integrating vehicular networks with advanced communication technologies. IoV applications, such as autonomous driving, intelligent traffic management, and vehicular safety systems, require real-time data processing, low latency, and reliable communication to function effectively. Traditional approaches often focus on minimizing latency or energy consumption but tend to overlook the importance of task prioritization and its impact on resource allocation for critical operations. In this paper, we propose a novel approach that incorporates dynamic task prioritization, considers vehicle vulnerabilities in resource allocation, and introduces an improved fairness scheme across the network. The objective function of our approach aims to maximize system utility as well as weighted fairness in resource distribution based on task priority. The numerical evaluation demonstrates the effectiveness of the proposed resource allocation mechanism compared to the state-of-the-art.
