Enabling Radio Spectrum Scan with Smartphones

Radio spectrum information is essential for wireless communication and is typically collected using spectrum analyzers. Previous works have explored alternatives like SDRs and PCIe WLAN NICs, but these methods rely on specialized hardware or are no longer supported by modern mobile devices. In this demo, we present the QCA Spectral Scan Android app to obtain spectrum information directly from widely available smartphones. By leveraging Qualcomm’s WLAN driver, our app enables real-time spectral scanning without additional hardware, providing a cost-effective and accessible approach for spectrum analysis.
