Evaluation Method for Phase Modulation Effectiveness in Pumped Storage Power Stations

At the current stage of large-scale development of pumped storage power stations, more stringent demands are placed on the reactive power regulation capability of the power grid. Traditional evaluation approaches, which often rely on singular indicators such as electrical distance, fail to account for the coupled impacts of multiple influencing factors, including high levels of renewable energy penetration and variations in shortcircuit capacity. Moreover, these methods typically depend on subjective weighting, lacking rigorous data-driven calibration. To address these limitations, this paper proposes a multi-dimensional coupling evaluation model based on grey relational analysis. To enable multi-factor evaluation, a comprehensive index system is constructed, comprising nine indicators including phase regulation depth, response speed, and renewable energy penetration rate. By employing the grey relational degree to quantify the coupling relationships among indicators, the model enables an objective determination of their weights. Using the UHVDC sending-end grid as a case study, the proposed method demonstrates its capability to quantitatively evaluate the influence of multiple factors under complex operating conditions, thereby providing technical support for the optimal allocation of reactive power regulation resources.
