Comparison and Simulation Research of Dfig Model Based on Three Power System Simulation Software

With the large-scale grid connection of doubly fed induction generator (DFIG), building simulation models containing grid-connected wind power systems has become a conventional method to evaluate the impact of dynamic characteristics of wind turbines on the stable operation of the system. However, differences in the modeling and simplification methods of DFIG by different simulation software lead to variations in the output characteristics of DFIG under the same scenario, and may even affect research conclusions in critical cases. To address this, the differences in DFIG modeling accuracy in real time simulator CAD (RSCAD), power system analysis software package (PSASP) and digital simulation and electrical network (DIgSILENT) are investigated. The dynamic characteristics of DFIG output in the three software were compared in a 3-machine 9-node system. By comparing the model differences, the reasons for the variations in output characteristics were clarified, and the characteristics and applicable scenarios of DFIG models in each software were summarized. The study shows that the differences in DFIG output characteristics are mainly caused by modeling accuracy, control models, and control parameters, and the applicable scenarios of each software vary depending on the modeling accuracy and the implementation of control strategies.
