Analysis of frequency support necessity and capacity analysis for grid-forming energy storage during the entire transient process

Building a new power system with renewable energy as the main body has become an important task for current economic and social development. With regard to the transient voltage and frequency regulation issues of renewable energy power systems, grid-connected energy storage has extremely important practical significance due to its rapid four-quadrant regulation capability. In order to better apply grid-type energy storage, this article will conduct a technical review from the following four aspects. First, from the perspective of the development history of renewable energy, the inevitability of grid-type energy storage entering the historical stage is analyzed. Then the specific grid-connected form of grid-type energy storage is analyzed. Secondly, for the entire transient support process, the shortcomings of existing technologies are analyzed from the perspectives of electromagnetic transient modeling, single-machine support, multi-machine coordination, and system optimization. Finally, a technical outlook is given.
