Dual Sensor Denoising Algorithm for MWD Telemetry Signal

A dual-sensor denoising algorithm for multi-pulse position coding (MPC) signals in MWD telemetry transmission system is studied. Based on the dual-sensor signal model, the time domain filter denoising algorithm is given. At the same time, a time delay estimation method based on the sparse property of time domain is proposed for MPC signal. The performance of the algorithm is better than that of the LMS algorithm under the condition of narrow pulse width. This is beneficial for high data rate transmission. The test results with real drilling signals show that the proposed algorithm also has good performance of denoising, and the reason why the dual-sensor denoising algorithm has the ability of compensating reflected signals is also explained.
