Battery Modeling of SEI and Metal Dendrite Growth: A Transmission Line Circuit Framework with Genetic Algorithm-Identified Parameters

This paper proposes a transmission line circuit model with two critical incipient faults in lithium-ion batteries. The incipient faults include solid electrolyte interphase growth and metal dendrite growth. Key parameters governing the faults are identified using the genetic algorithm. The analysis of fault parameters reveals how the faults evolve with cycling. Validation results against the public dataset demonstrate the proposed model’s capability to estimate the aging voltage with the mean relative error below 0.72%.
