Effect of roll geometry and setting on contact with metal strip in a U-profile roll forming process

The roll forming process involves bending a metal strip through a series of rolls with a specific geometry to produce metal profiles with high dimensional accuracy and structural integrity. However, since the transition from free movement of the sidewall strip to contact with the upper and lower rolls or side installed rolls has not been clarified in the literature, this study aims to investigate the extent of contact between the sidewall strip and the rolls to understand the effect of roll geometry and set up on the sidewall of the strip in roll forming.
