A Study of the Sex Ratio of Lamprey Based on Logistic and Lotka-Volterra Models

In this paper, a mathematical model was constructed to explore the effects of the sex ratio of the lamprey population on the ecosystem based on its response to environmental changes. Firstly, the relationship between sex ratio and resource availability and reproduction rate was inferred by combining Logistic and Lotka-Volterra models and considering the effect of resource availability on the population. Predators and competitors were further introduced to form a new food chain, and the effects of sex ratio changes on ecosystem stability and diversity were analyzed. It was found that sex ratio changes increased organism stability values and ecosystem abundance, providing population adaptive advantages. The increase in ecosystem evenness by sex ratio change was revealed by calculating the Shannon Diversity Index. These research methods provide insights into the important role of the lamprey in the ecosystem and the effect of sex ratio on ecological balance.
