The influence of the number of fiber bending turns on medical fiber terminal output spot characteristics

In order to study the relationship between the number of bending turns in medical fibers and the spot size and uniformity, a medical fiber spot acquisition test device was used to measure the output spot under different bending conditions. A 980 nm thulium laser served as the light source, and a CCD camera captured the output spot of the medical fiber at various bend radii. The uniformity and size changes of the output spot were recorded and analyzed for different bending radii. The test results indicate that as the number of bending turns increases, the spot uniformity improves, while the spot size gradually enlarges. These findings provide a reference for determining the minimum bending radius of medical optical fibers.
