A High-Sensitivity Differential Pressure Optical Fiber Airflow Velocity Sensor Based on the Vernier Effect

A high-sensitivity differential pressure optical fiber flow velocity sensor based on the Vernier effect is proposed. The sensor detects the deformation differences of the aluminum film at different positions under fluid impact by forming two FP interferometers at the center and edge of the aluminum film. The Vernier effect is constructed by coupling the two FP interferometers using a coupler, thereby achieving high-sensitivity airflow velocity sensing. Experimental results show that the designed sensor has a measurement range of 0 to 13 m/s and achieves a sensitivity of up to 6.884 nm/(m/s) within the airflow velocity range of 8 to 12 m/s.
