A Measurement Method for Recording the Propagation Position inner Gas-phase Detonation

In both military and civilian fields, cloud detonation or similar gas explosion accidents involve the special energy release process of gas-phase detonation. This type of gas-phase detonation process generally has a large radius scale, low density, and relatively random volume structure. The propagation characteristics of gas-phase detonation are essential in understanding, analyzing, and evaluating such energy release processes, especially velocity and shape of detonation wave. On the basis of existing measurement methods and sensors, cone-type and flexible diaphragm-type probes were designed respectively for different propagation paths inside the aerial space or on the boundary surface of the gas phase detonation reaction system constrained by flexible airbags. Pen-structure sensor with specific aerodynamic structures was designed, and the measurement system was constructed. Several gas-phase detonation experiments with a typical flexible airbag constraint, which is designed to simulate cloud explosion, were carried out for testing and validation of the proposed method. After comparison and analysis with the test results of high-speed photography, it is verified that the designed measurement method and system can not only effectively monitor the accurate arrival time of different propagation paths of gaseous detonation, but also can be used to characterize the morphological characteristics of detonation waves. After further calculation the dispersion of propagation speed obtained by the designed method is smaller. This method can not only be used to detect the detonation wave characteristics of large-scale simulated cloud and mist explosions, but also provides a feasible technical means for monitoring detonation processes and fireball diffusion processes with similar energy release forms.
