Battery excitation for impedance measurement through innovative DC-DC setup and related control technique for EVs

To optimize battery performance, accurate characterization of dynamic processes is crucial, particularly for traction applications and Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) systems. Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) enables detailed impedance analysis by applying AC signals, requiring an efficient excitation circuit. This paper introduces a novel lossless excitation circuit for EIS, designed to enhance measurement accuracy and reliability. Utilizing a proportional-resonant (PR) controller, the circuit achieves precise signal generation with minimal energy losses. The approach reduces degradation associated with traditional methods, improving battery monitoring and potentially extending operational lifespan.
