Bidirectional Wireless Power Transfer Three-Port Power Converter with Phase-Shift Control Method

This paper presents a three-port bidirectional wireless power transfer (WPT) converter. It is a three-port power converter topology optimized for wireless power transfer, in which the coils adopt a rotatable solenoid triple-coil structure. Power regulation for each port is achieved through phase-shift control, supporting multi-coil inputs and multi-coil outputs. By adjusting the phase-shift angles, both real and reactive power at every port can be managed independently; in particular, any port can be brought to zero real power without being electrically disconnected, enabling true single-port-to-single-port power transmission. Finally, a laboratory prototype is built and tested. With phase-shift control, the converter successfully demonstrates) two-to-one power transfer, (2 one-to-two power transfer, and one-to-one power transfer while third port at zero net power, under supply-port and battery-port voltages of 28V and a load-port voltage range of 28V–56V. The measured efficiencies for these modes reach 94.01%, respectively.
