HuG-M: Field-Based Early Childhood Mathematics Education Using the Math Play Application

This study introduces and evaluates the educational effectiveness of HuG-M Math, a mobile application designed to foster early childhood mathematical thinking through interactive, game-based learning. The application encompasses five foundational domains of mathematics education for young children: numbers and operations, space and shapes, measurement, patterns, and data collection and analysis. Designed to promote exploratory and meaningful engagement, the app encourages children to construct mathematical understanding through developmentally appropriate digital play. A total of 60 children, aged 3 to 6, participated in the implementation. Learning outcomes were measured using level-based evaluations administered both before and after the intervention. Analysis revealed significant learning gains across all targeted domains, with particularly notable progress in numbers and operations and space and shapes. The results suggest that HuG-M Math is a valuable pedagogical resource for enhancing early mathematical competencies in young learners.
